6-foot-1 rising sophomore guard Zaire Colbert is heading to the Panhandle for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
Zaire Colbert, A 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard, confirmed with Southeast Hoops Report that he will be enrolling at Fort Walton Beach High School in the Panhandle on Friday.
Colbert is a three-star point guard who is the No. 64 overall-ranked prospect in the Class of 2029, the No. 8 point guard, and the No. 9 overall player in the state of Florida. He is coming off a strong summer where he spent the Grassroots season playing for Jet Academy on the Nike EYBL circuit.
During Session 4 in Las Vegas at the Nike EYBL last month, Colbert led his squad to a perfect 5-0 week where he averaged 24.2 points per game.
Colbert has already received over a half-dozen offers from schools such as California, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Marquette, Missouri, San Jose State, and UCF.
Before coming to Fort Walton Beach, Colbert spent the summer high school season playing at Victory Rock Prep in Sarasota, Florida, where he spent a few weeks in the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association (SIAA). He played his freshman season at The Rock School in Gainesville, where he averaged 14.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, according to MaxPreps.
Colbert came to the United States in 2021, as he was born a Military kid where he spent most of his childhood in Germany and the United Kingdom.
Fort Walton Beach finished the 2025-2026 season with a 21-8 record and qualified for the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) regional playoffs, where they reached the Class 4A, Region 1 semifinals before their season came to an end against Tallahassee Godby. The Vikings also recorded their first winning season since 2013, when they finished 18-7.
The Vikings return a collective group featuring 6-foot-3 junior guard Leo Ivison (Averaged 7.1 points per game in 2025-2026) and 6-foot-4 senior small forward Kyle Jones (Averaged 4.7 rebounds per game in 2025-2026). Expect the Vikings to be heavily favorites to win the District 1, Class 4A championship for a second consecutive season.
