By: Southeast Hoops Report

6-2 SG Travien Williams, Hickory Ridge HS (NC)- 2027

Williams is a strong and crafty finisher who is unafraid when it comes to absorbing contact when finishing around the rim on the offensive end. Standing at 6-foot-2, he can effortlessly break down opponents, touch the paint at will, and finish with either hand at the front of the rim or make the right plays to open teammates off penetration. On the defensive end, he does a great job of utilizing his length and strong frame to his advantage when it comes to defending opposing guards at the point of attack. He also does a great job at rebounding for his position and forcing turnovers by generating the passing lanes, allowing steals to turn into scores in transition. Look for Williams to have a strong senior season where he is gaining attention from several college coaches.

6-4 SG Matt Allen, Moravian Prep (OTE) (NC)- 2027

The 6-foot-4 senior shooting guard is a highly useful threat when it comes to shooting from beyond the arc, both off the catch and off the bounce on the offensive end. He also demonstrates a great understanding of how to space the floor and produce without needing the ball in his hands. On the defensive end, Allen brings a scrappy, tough defensive presence and useful energy on the glass, where he limits the opposition from getting second-chance scoring opportunities. Overall, he is highly impactful whether it’s his ability to be a high-volume shooter on the offensive end or making an impact with his contagious energy on the defensive end.

6-3 SG Josiah Johnson-Freeman, Davidson Day (NC)- 2027

Johnson-Freeman brings a versatile skill set that allows him to impact multiple phases of the game. On offense, he showcases his scoring ability, knocking down shots from the three-point line and proving himself as a perimeter threat, while also mixing it up and scoring off the bounce at the front of the rim. On the defensive end, he brings physicality and toughness, and he can guard positions 1 through 3 with his speed and athleticism. He is also unafraid when it comes to challenging shots around the rim, where he can contest shots without fouling at a high level. His overall feel and great understanding of his role on both ends of the floor could make out for a breakout senior season as well as at the next level.

6-3 SG Brennen Jefferson, Knightdale (NC)- 2027

Jefferson plays a mature, efficient game built on making the right plays and playing hard on every possession. On the offensive end, Jefferson can score from all three levels, using his smooth jumper and strong frame to get to his spots and finish at the rim both off the catch and off the bounce. On the defensive end, he plays with toughness and uses his positioning to limit opponents from getting a solid look to score, as well as from getting second-chance opportunities. Overall, he continues to be a steady riser whose complete skill set translates well to winning basketball for his team.

6-4 SG Julian Lowe, The Burlington School (NC)- 2027- Emory University commit

Lowe is a smart and tough wing who consistently knocks down shots on all three levels, defends his position, and makes the right play for himself as well as his teammates. He has a great understanding of how to fill in the gaps on both ends of the floor. On the defensive end, Lowe defends multiple positions and secures rebounds very well for his size and position. Overall, he does a little bit of everything offensively and can alter his approach based on team needs on the defensive side. The next phase in his well-rounded game is working on getting quicker, as it would make him an even more dynamic threat off the bounce on the offensive end.

6-7 SG Bryce Chapman, Bishop McGuiness (NC)- 2027

Standing at 6-foot-7, Chapman continues to shine through his non-stop production and visible leadership on both ends of the floor. Chapman is long, skilled, and athletic, who has an overall great feel and understanding of the game where he can finish on all three scoring levels offensively and use his length to his advantage being a disruptor on the defensive end. Overall, Chapman is a strong, highly active rebounder and defender who can guard multiple positions due to his effort and athleticism which could pay dividends to a huge senior season where he could gain a ton of looks to get an opportunity at the next level.

6-3 SG Micah Gunter, Greensboro Day School (NC)- 2028

Gunter is coming off an impressive summer playing for Team United 16U on the Nike EYBL circuit, averaging 21 points and 6 assists per game while shooting an absurd 52.6% from the three-point line. He also had a strong sophomore season playing for Greensboro Day School under legendary head coach Freddy Johnson, where he averaged 19.5 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. He was also named to the All-State First Team and was MaxPreps All-American Third Team last season. Overall, Gunter truly offers a lot of promise at a young age, and I can only think that he will continue to get better as the years go on. Which is why I would be looking more closely at Gunter as a bigger national prospect in the state of North Carolina.

MICAH GUNTER HIGHLIGHTS AT THE JOSH LEVEL CLASSIC:

6-7 SG Tjay Brunson, Cleveland HS (NC)- 2028

The 6-foot-7 junior wing impresses with his ability to flourish with his athleticism, finishing at the rim with authority and being a factor in a variety of other ways. Brunson is off the charts out in transition, while also being able to operate from multiple positions on both ends of the court. During his sophomore season, Brunson averaged 21.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. Brunson continues to prove to be an impact player all around and a rising star in the state of North Carolina, where he was named to the All-State Team last season. He continues to hold over a dozen Division-1 offers, and that list may only continue to grow with another strong junior season.

TJAY BRUNSON HIGHLIGHTS AT SOUTHEAST RALEIGH (2025-2026 SEASON):

6-4 SG Rucker Jamison, Myers Park HS (NC)- 2028

Jamison is a quality point guard with good size and feel, and he understands how to run the show. On the offensive end, he can facilitate or create for himself, effectively knock down shots both off the catch and off the bounce, and be a true leader on the court. He plays well within the offense, can knock down shots off the ball, and is shifty as a playmaker also. On the defensive end, Jamison is a lead guard whose positional profile is expected to pressure the ball, guard multiple spots, and keep the group connected. He currently holds offers from Campbell and Iona but expect that list to continue to grow over the course of the next two seasons.

RUCKER JAMISON HIGHLIGHTS AT HOUGH (NC) (2025-2026 SEASON)

6-5 SG Antwan “AJ” Scott Jr., New Bern HS (NC)- 2029

Scott is coming off a freshman season where he averaged 17.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. The 6-foot-5 sophomore guard is able to make his impact felt in a variety of ways, whether it is his scoring, rebounding, being a defensive presence, or facilitating. He has played with tremendous confidence in attacking in transition, using his length to his clear advantage as well as his athleticism. Overall, Scott does a great job attacking off the dribble and getting to the rim, showing bounce at the rim as well as being able to finish or get to the line. It could be seen over and over, as he wasn’t shy about his ability to attack the defense. He was also named to the All-State Freshman Team by HighSchoolOnOT.com
