The reigning AHSAA Class 2A Player of the Year is heading to The Villages Charter for his junior season

One of the top players in the state of Alabama is on the move to a new program. AL.com’s Thomas Ashworth first reported the news.
Khalil Luster, A 6-foot-8 power forward, is transferring from Red Bay in Alabama to The Villages Charter in Florida.
Luster is coming off a stellar sophomore season where he averaged 21.6 points and 11.5 rebounds per game for the Tigers while shooting 39% from behind the arc.
Luster, standing at 6-foot-8, has a great feel and understanding of the game and is skilled for his size. He is comfortable operating from multiple levels, where he can stretch the floor as a big man, create and make plays off the bounce, and show touch around the basket. He can also make an impact impacting the game down low, attacking the glass, and utilizing his length to his advantage.
He was named MVP of the Class 2A Northwest Regional, racking up 26 points and 17 rebounds in the semifinals against Tanner before recording another double-double for 23 points and 10 rebounds against Cold Springs in the final.
The Villages Charter School advanced to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A state championship game last season and were the runner-up, losing to Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian Academy.
Red Bay finished the 2025-2026 season with a 25-6 record and reached the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 2A semifinals before their season came to an end against LaFayette.
