Saint Leo University lands their first commit in the upcoming recruiting cycle as Ryan Gornto commits to the Lions on Monday:

Spencer Henke and the Saint Leo University Lions land their first commit in the upcoming recruiting cycle this week. 6-foot-3 senior shooting guard Ryan Gornto, out of Providence High School in Jacksonville, Florida, announced his commitment on Monday.
Gornto chose the Lions over notable schools such as D1 Jacksonville University, Loyola-Maryland, North Florida, Palm Beach Atlantic, Southeast Missouri State, and the University of Tampa. He also received heavy interest from D1 Florida Gulf Coast University.
During his junior season, Gornto averaged 12.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, nearly one assist, and one steal per game.
Gornto Is A Proven Winner
During his junior season at Providence, Gornto played a lead role in helping the Stallions win their first state championship since 2015 and their third overall. The Stallions finished the 2025-2026 season with a 29-3 record and ended the season on a 17-game winning streak.
During the Grassroots season, Gornto played for Tre Mann Elite on the PRO16 Circuit, where he played a pivotal role during the PRO16 Finals in Bryan, Texas, where he shot 55% from behind the three-point line in five games played.
What is Saint Leo Getting in Gornto?
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is one of the top efficient shooters in the state of Florida, where during his junior season he shot 45% from the field and 44% from behind the three-point line. Gornto also led the state in three-pointers made (111), including a season-high seven made 3-pointers in a win over Oak Ridge back on January 27.
Scouting Report on Ryan Gornto
Gornto is a gifted scorer on the offensive end when given the right amount of space and distance. His confidence and maturity when he has the basketball in his hands are what separate him from the rest of the guards in the area. On defense, he is a pest when it comes to guarding the ball as well as applying consistent pressure in the passing lanes, forcing opposing guards to make a difficult decision. He also provides immediate floor spacing and will thrive off the attention drawn by other high-level teammates, which should lead to even more clean looks to score or get his teammates involved.
