Four-star center Yohane Kabongo confirmed to Southeast Hoops Report on Wednesday that he has narrowed down his top schools to three. Kabongo will choose between Alabama, Mississippi State, and Tennessee, with his college announcement coming on Sunday, November 8, at 2:00 p.m. Before trimming his list down to three, Kabongo was hearing from several schools such as Arkansas State, Creighton, Duquesne, Florida Atlantic, LSU, South Florida, and West Virginia.

Kabongo currently attends DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida where he recently scheduled an official visit to Florida State for this upcoming Friday (November 6), but with the Seminoles not among his finalists, it appears that visit will not happen as scheduled.

According to 247Sports, Kabongo is rated as the No. 98 overall player in the nation, the No. 12 center, and the No. 21 player in the state of Florida in the upcoming class.

During his junior season with DME Academy, Kabongo averaged 17.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game before a wrist injury derailed his season around Christmas time.

Kabongo has taken official visits to each of his three remaining finalists all within the last month, with his most recent visit to Mississippi State last weekend.

Before coming over to the United States, Kabongo hailed from the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he was regarded as one of the top international prospects in his class.

Scouting Report on Yohane Kabongo

Kabongo consistently shows himself as a lob threat around the rim and finishes in transition on the offensive end to keep the defense at bay. In the half-court, Kabongo uses his mobility and strength to finish through contact, as he can finish effectively around the rim using either hand, slide into open spaces, and convert opportunities created by his teammates. On the defensive side, Kabongo uses his size and frame when it comes to positioning himself and utilizing communication matters as much as his raw size and strength also allow him to guard multiple positions. The next phase in his game will be to see if he can add range when it comes to shooting from the perimeter, as well as having a reliable short-corner jump shot or a face-up game from the elbows, with his given athleticism in the paint, defenses tend to lose the ability to sit along the interior against him. Overall, his footwork and conditioning will decide how quickly he moves from a prospect with a good ranking to a player who can start at the next level right away.
