Kevin Savage, A 6-foot-1 rising senior point guard out of Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, is one step closer to announcing his college commitment. He announced he is down to six schools, according to 247Sports’ Travis Branham. Savage will choose between Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Purdue, and UCLA.
Savage also holds offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Cincinnati, George Mason, Hampton, Ole Miss, and South Florida. He took official visits to Cincinnati, Georgia, and Purdue, with the Bearcats no longer in consideration for the four-star point guard.
Savage is one of the stellar guards in the country, where he has had a superb Grassroots season, playing for Game Elite Basketball on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. He is averaging 20.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
He was also named one of the top standouts at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, South Carolina, earlier this month, where he exploded for a game-high 16 points and three assists on 7-of-9 shooting from the field on the final day of play.
Savage helped lead Wheeler to a 27-6 record during the 2025-2026 season and another state championship, which marked their 11th title in school history and third in the last four years.
Savage spoke on with On3’s Joe Tipton on each of his six finalists:
AUBURN: “I’ve been around Auburn’s staff since I was, I want to say, like sixth grade. I built a relationship with Coach Ira (Bowman). I used to have a really good relationship with Coach (Pearl). Now he gave me to his son, so we’re still building that relationship. I just see how they’ve played with Sharife Cooper, Tahaad Pettiford, and Jared Harper. They have a history with smaller guards. They let them play through the guards, so that was mainly one of the top things I like about them.”
FLORIDA STATE: “The coaching staff contacts me consistently. It’s not a time they’re not contacting me. Just building a relationship with them, seeing what they did last year. They had a good season. It’s a good relationship, and I want to get to know them more.”
GEORGIA: “They have a new roster. They had a couple of people leave and go to the transfer portal. They’re preaching to me about coming in and filling some of the gaps. And just being a hometown hero kid, staying in Georgia, playing for my city, and getting kids to come to Georgia with me.”
GEORGIA TECH: “I’m starting to build a relationship with Coach (Cross) and Coach (Flanigan) since I was in eighth grade, so we’ve had a relationship. Just me knowing Coach (Flanigan), me trying to get to know Georgia Tech, and really me staying home are some of the good things. Staying close to my family. Nothing wrong with staying closer and being a hometown kid.”
PURDUE: “I just love the way they use their point guards. “They developed him. Just how they use their point guard, the system, the atmosphere, the coaches. Purdue is just a good situation.”
UCLA: “I was recently offered by UCLA during the last Indiana session. They offered me and preached to me about development. An East Coast kid going to the West Coast, that was something I liked about them. I kind of want to get to know them a little better. I’m not really familiar with UCLA, but just getting to know them better.”
