A Top 50 power forward is off the board after he announced his commitment to a mid-major program over the weekend.

Evan Toms, A 6-foot-8 senior power forward out of Huntsville High School in Alabama, has committed to Belmont University. Travis Branham of 247Sports was the first to report the news.
Toms chose the Bruins over Jacksonville State, Florida Gulf Coast, Kennesaw State, Queens, Samford, Tennessee Tech, Tulane, and Wofford.
Toms spent the Grassroots season playing with Pro One Basketball on the Under Armour Circuit, averaging 10.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.
During his junior season at Huntsville, Toms earned numerous accolades, including All-State First Team in Class 7A, 7A Area 7 All-First Team, and North Alabama Player of the Year, among others.
Toms becomes the second commit in the upcoming recruitment cycle under Evan Bradds, as Silver Creek (Indiana) senior point guard Brandon Hunter announced his commitment to the Bruins last month.
Toms brings an impressive shot-blocking ability as well as adding a defensive anchor to his attributes, as he can play inside as well as outside. He possesses great size, length, and the ability to make winning plays at the highest level. On the offensive end, he showcases the ability to score on all three levels, handle the basketball in transition, and control the glass, where he can finish off putbacks around the rim.
During the Huntsville City Classic as a junior last season, Toms averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds per game across four games played, and he received All-Tournament honors. He led the Panthers to their second Huntsville City Classic title (2023).
EVAN TOMS HUNTSVILLE CITY CLASSIC HIGHLIGHTS:
“Evan is as hard-working a player at his craft as anyone we have had here. He doesn’t get too high or too low. That mentality has helped him develop into arguably one of the best players in our state and a future Division 1 basketball player.” Huntsville High School Head Coach Christian Schweers on Toms.
Huntsville finished the 2025-2026 season with a 28-5 record and made a run to the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 7A Regional Semifinals before their season came to an end against Hoover High School, who went on to make a run at the Final Four.
