Top-60 national ranked recruit Alex Constanza, A former Georgetown University commit will now play his collegiate career on the West Coast.

Alex Constanza, a four-star small forward out of SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, will play his collegiate career at Pepperdine University, his father (Ed) confirmed with Southeast Hoops Report on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-8 senior was originally a Georgetown commit back in November, after choosing the Hoyas over Kansas, Illinois, NC State, Syracuse, and several others. He also had offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Creighton, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, St. John’s, and Washington.

Constanza is originally a native of Miami, Florida, where he played three seasons at Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, where he averaged 29.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game for the Lions during his junior season.

“I love the coaching staff, where they truly believe in me to make an immediate impact, where I can play important minutes as a freshman,” Constanza said on why he chose Pepperdine. It’s a beautiful campus where I will have a chip on my shoulders and be ready for the challenge”, he added.

SPIRE Academy competed in the Nike EYBL Scholastic during the 2025-2026 season where they were joined by a loaded field such as La Lumiere (Indiana), IMG Academy (Florida), Prolific Prep (Florida), Wasatch Academy (Utah), Brewster Academy (New Hampshire), Link Academy (Missouri), AZ Compass Prep, Long Island Lutheran (New York), and Sunrise Christian Academy (Kansas). SPIRE Academy finished the season with a 28-4 record and reached the EYBL Scholastic semifinals in the Inaugural Conference tournament, where they lost to eventual champion CIA Bella Vista.

247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein on Constanza: Constanza is a major mismatch problem on the perimeter because he combines size, length (7-foot-1 wingspan), strength, playmaking ability, and shooting touch. He can beat opposing defenders in a variety of ways, loves to take the ball off the glass to start the break himself (6.8 rebounds per game in Pro16 play), and is even a quality passer when he wants to be (4 assists). He has extremely soft hands and a natural touch that allow for tough catches, quick finishes, good dexterity around the rim, and an effortless shooting stroke out to the arc (although his 68% FT and 30% 3pt could improve). He’s smoother and stronger than he is fully explosive with the ball in his hands, but when he attacks off the dribble, he just keeps coming at opposing defenders, even when he’s initially cut off.

Constanza has had the benefit of extreme freedom and volume to this point, during both the high school and grassroots seasons. Simultaneously, he has a nonchalant style and needs to be more consistent with his motor, body language, and defensive intensity, particularly off the ball. He also needs to value the ball more (4.2 turnovers), commit to sculpting his frame, and then prove he can maximize his efficiency in more defined, translatable roles. He’s also older for his grade, turning 19 in October of his senior year.
