Before coming over to Montverde Academy, Delancy spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he helped lead the Gladiators to the 2025 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 4A Championship Game, where they finished as runner-ups. During his sophomore season, Delancy averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.

During his freshman season, Delancy averaged 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.1 steals per game where he led the Gladiators to their first state championship since 1969.

Delancy is rated as the No. 55 overall-ranked prospect, the No. 8 ranked shooting guard, and the No. 9 overall-ranked player in the state of Florida in the Class of 2027, according to 247Sports.

“I have a great relationship with Coach (Sampson) where he stated that he’d probably be mad at my defense, as it was a little off… But they’re like a Mom-and-Pop shop over there,” Delancy told On3. They rock with me as much off the court as they do on the court. They’re great people, and they like great people, and that stood out to me when I visited there. They do it big over there. Their weight room is crazy”, he added.

Q: What are some things you are looking for in a college program?

Delancy: “Culture, fit, and grit will all be big for me. I want to be coached by a real hard-nosed coach. So I am looking for that energy. I use that to help fuel myself in the game. It’s really going to be about fit, how I feel around them. How do they act around each other? How do the coaches treat the players? I want to see if the campus is nice and if it’s somewhere I can see myself,” he stated in a statement to On3.
