Top-200 recruit Anthony Brown becomes the first commit for Eric Konkol and his staff as he announced his commitment on Tuesday

Anthony Brown, A 6-foot-6 small forward out of Boca Ciega High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, announced his commitment to Tulsa on Tuesday. He becomes the first commit for Head Coach Eric Konkol and the Golden Hurricane staff for the upcoming recruiting cycle.
“Thank you, God, for giving me this great opportunity; without you, none of this would be going on… Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light”, Brown posted on his social media.
Brown chose the Golden Hurricane over notable offers such as Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Jacksonville, Missouri State, North Florida, Queens University, UNC-Asheville, and Youngstown State.
Brown Playing A Key Role For Boca Ciega
During his junior season, Brown was the team’s leading scorer, averaging 21.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, and he was a key role player for the Pirates, making a run to the 2026 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 4A final four, where their season came to an end against eventual state champion Suncoast back on March 10th. Brown shot 53% from the field, 38% from the three-point line, and 68% from the free-throw line last season, according to MaxPreps. In a regional semifinal win over Gulf back on February 21, he scored a season-high 45 points and snatched 11 rebounds, which was a key game in the Pirates’ run to the Final Four for the first time since 2002.
Brown Had An Impressive Spring And Summer
During the Grassroots season, Brown played with 1Family on the PRO16 Circuit, where he was teammates with Julian Fox (Edgewater), Drew Jackson (Episcopal School of Jacksonville), and Terrance Walker (Edgewater).
Scouting Report on Anthony Brown
Brown does a great job when it comes to playing with pace, utilizing his athleticism and length to his advantage in the open court. He is unafraid when it comes to finishing at the front of the rim on the attack. In a half-court offense, Brown can demonstrate and facilitate with his teammates, keeping constant pressure on opposing defenses. On the defensive end, he does a great job of applying havoc in the passing lanes, and he can force turnovers that can quickly turn into offense. He has an overall skill set, including his size, athleticism, and a high motor.
Boca Ciega 2026-2027 Season Outlook
The reigning Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 4A semifinalists will open up the 2026-2027 season on Thursday, November 19, with a non-district road game against Pinellas Park. The Pirates have added 6-foot-5 junior forward Nijaun Harris, who came over from St. Petersburg High School during the summer.
The Pirates are led by head coach Marquel Cason, who is entering his 4th season with the program and holds a record of 48-34 in his first three seasons.
