With the summer grassroots season, we are turning and looking ahead to the upcoming 2026-2027 high school basketball season. Here are five (5) stock risers from the Sunshine State who performed on the biggest Grassroots stages as their recruitment starts to heat up.

5-11 PG Whitfield Bynoe, Oak Ridge HS (FL)- 2027
The 5-foot-11 senior point guard is truly special with his elite court vision and passing accuracy, especially in tight windows on the offensive end. He has added a tight handle is which allows him to navigate pressure and get to his spots on the floor where he can score on all three levels. On the defensive end, Bynoe has strong instincts to disrupt passing lanes and guard multiple positions at a high level, where he doesn’t let his lack of size or speed faze him. Overall, Bynoe is a proven winner and will bring that intense energy heading into his senior season.
6-4 SG Donovan Gaines, Specially Fit Academy (FL)- 2027
Gaines is a natural three-level scorer who can provide a huge impact in a variety of ways on the offensive end. He is a primary ball-handler who can also get to his spots off the ball as well as make good decisions when he does have the basketball in his hands. He is also very active on the defensive end of the floor, where he disrupts opposing guards from getting into their rhythm. He is active when it comes to pursuing the passing lanes, where he utilizes his length to his advantage. He is also unafraid to use his athleticism when it comes to pursuing the glass, where he snatches timely rebounds and pushes the ball up the floor at an elite speed in transition-scoring opportunities.
6-4 CG Chase Weismiller, Walter L. Sickles HS (FL)- 2028
The 6-foot-4 combo guard missed most of last high school season with a knee injury, but returned in time for the regional playoffs. Weismiller is a gifted scorer who can impact the game both off the catch and off the bounce, as he is lethal when it comes to his three-point shooting. He has an improved handle, which keeps the defense off balance, as he is unafraid when it comes to finishing at the front of the rim. On the defensive end, Weismiller brings great size and versatility, as he can guard opposing ball-handlers as well as use his frame to guard bigger players in the paint. Overall, his knack for three-level scoring and playing sound defense could open up the doors to a possible strong recruitment period for the 6-foot-4 combo guard. Weismiller currently holds offers from Le Moyne, High Point, D2 Saint Leo, and UCF.
6-5 CG King McMillian, Hilliard HS (FL)- 2028
The 6-foot-5 junior combo guard has a polished skill set on the offensive end where he can separate the defense with ease and is comfortable with his three-level scoring. He consistently makes timely reads on when to score versus pass the ball from the lead guard position. He handles defensive pressure very well, and his size from the lead guard position allows him to see the floor exceptionally well. On the defensive end, his length and athleticism allow him to guard multiple positions, from larger guards to most forwards, and he consistently works to stay in front of his man. Overall, his athletic frame and strength allows him to finish through some contact at the front of the rim. He also never feels rushed, but he can also push the pace in transition when the opportunity allows. Look for McMillian to have a strong junior season.
6-1 PG Kade Manley, Mainland (Daytona Beach) HS (FL)- 2027
The 6-foot-1 rising senior point guard can control the offense, whether it was as the primary ball-handler or by getting to his spots, where he scored on all three levels. He can create separation with his ability to force the defense into making a split-second decision, as he can score off the catch and bounce at a high level. His effective decision-making is what separates him from the rest of the guards in his class, as he is able to make plays both on and off the ball on the offensive end. On the defensive end, he can create plays with his constant energy and movement, which makes it difficult for opposing guards to get comfortable looks to score. Overall, his ability to make an impact and contribute on both ends of the floor continues to stand out as he is line for a possible big senior season ahead.
