Chacho Womack, A 6-foot-5 junior shooting guard is on the move ahead of his upcoming junior season, as he is transferring from West Charlotte to Petersburg High School in Virginia. Langston Wertz, of the Charlotte Observer first reported the news.

Womack is the No. 114 overall player in the nation, the No. 19 shooting guard, and the No. 3 player in the state of Virginia in the Class of 2028, according to 247Sports. He currently holds over a dozen offers from schools such as Alcorn State, East Carolina, LSU, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, TCU, UTEP, Virginia Tech, and several others. Womack will take three unofficial visits this fall, where he will make trips to NC State (August 20), Virginia (August 29), and Kansas State (September 12).

Womack helped lead West Charlotte to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) Class 8A state championship last season, where they defeated Hoggard, 70-68, back on March 11th, and the Lions erased a 15-point deficit in the process. It was the program’s first state championship since 2019.

During the Grassroots season, Womack played for Team Loaded South on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, where he averaged 18.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 42% on 2-point field goals, 39% from the three-point line, and 81% from the free-throw line. During his sophomore season, Womack averaged 17.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and nearly a steal per game, according to MaxPreps.

Womack will play alongside 6-foot-2 sophomore combo guard King Bacot, who is the younger brother of former North Carolina Tar Heel power forward Armando Bacot.

Petersburg (Virginia) is coming off a stellar 2025-2026 season where they won the Virginia High School Basketball League (VHSL) Class 3A Championship, when they defeated Lake Taylor, 56-35 back on March 14th. It marked the first state championship since 1975 for the Crimson Wave.

Womack will play under nationally known head coach Ty White, who will be entering his second season with the program, after spending 15 seasons at John Marshall High School, where he guided the program to two state championships in his tenure. During his 15-year run with the Justices, White compiled a record of 322-60 (.842) winning percentage

Scouting Report on Chacho Womack: Womack operates primarily as an offensive initiator, a true scoring guard who thrives with the ball in his hands but also understands how to leverage space and timing off the ball to maximize his impact. He plays with a smooth tempo that often belies his overall effectiveness, rarely forcing the issue but always probing for advantage against various defensive schemes. His decision-making in the pick-and-roll is mature beyond his years, showcasing the ability to hit the roll man with accuracy and find perimeter shooters or create his own shot with a combination of dribble moves and crafty footwork. On the defensive end, displaying active hands in passing lanes to disrupt offensive flow. He influences the game by consistently bending defenses with his scoring gravity, opening up opportunities for teammates through his constant threat to attack the rim, pull up from mid-range, or step back for a deep three-pointer. His court awareness and ability to change pace are significant assets.
