6-foot-7 Shooting Guard RJ Moore will consider the following schools: Alabama, Rutgers, Texas Tech, Utah, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest
RJ Moore, A 6-foot-7 senior shooting guard out of Ambassador Christian School in Huntersville, North Carolina, announced he has narrowed down his school list to six on Friday. Moving forward, Moore will consider the following schools: Alabama, Rutgers, Texas Tech, Utah, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest. Before trimming his list down to six, Moore was being recruited by Appalachian State, Charlotte, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State, Syracuse, and Virginia.
Moore has currently scheduled three official visits with his remaining finalists as he will make trips to Rutgers (September 3), Vanderbilt (September 10), and Alabama (September 25). Moore is rated as the No. 41 overall player in the country, the No. 3 ranked shooting guard, and the top-ranked player in the state of North Carolina for the upcoming senior class, according to 247Sports.
During his junior season at Ambassador Christian School, Moore averaged 18.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, in which he led the team in each category, according to MaxPreps. He shot 41% from the field, 32% from behind the arc, and 66% from the free-throw line last season. The Lions finished the 2025-2026 season with a 15-13 record and did not qualify for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) playoffs.
Moore is the son of current North Carolina A&T Assistant Coach Ricky Moore, who has held the position since 2023. Ricky played his collegiate basketball career at the University of Connecticut from 1995 to 1999 including making an appearance in the National Championship Game during his senior season. During the 1998-1999 season, Moore averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 assists per game.

ALABAMA: “Alabama is definitely a great school for guards. The program is great. The school is great, and the facilities are great. The program is run very well by the coaches. I am definitely looking forward to getting up there to campus and all to come with them. Coach (Murphy) has been recruiting me and appreciate what they have done.”
RUTGERS: “They also have a great program. You know, Coach (Steve) Pikiell runs that program really well. He’s definitely put guys in the best situation possible, and I definitely took notice of that and am definitely excited to get up there to campus. I feel like they are recruiting me hard. Coach (Thompson) texts me every single day to check on me so I just appreciate what they have done.”
TEXAS TECH: “They came in a little late, but I love how they let their players play. They shoot the ball well, and the coaching staff does a great job running the program. Coach (Gotcher) has been recruiting me very hard and I appreciate what they have done for me and my family.”
UTAH: “They are another school that has been recruiting me since I was a freshman. I definitely like what they’ve done. The program is run well, facilities are great, and the coaching staff has done a great job. Coach (Raphael) has been recruiting me and appreciate what they have done.”
VANDERBILT: “They had a great season last year, and their program is definitely run well by the coaches and the school is great. Definitely looking forward to getting up to campus. Also, I have a great relationship with Coach (Justus) and Coach (Myers). They recruited me, and I’ve definitely appreciated what they’ve done.”
WAKE FOREST: “They have been recruiting me since I was a freshman, and I’ve been up to campus many times. I like it. They’re great facilities. Great school, great coaches, and it’s definitely run well by the coaching staff. I’m excited to get up there and take a visit.”
Scouting Report on RJ Moore: Moore is listed at 6-foot-7 and can make an impact in multiple ways, and has an understanding of floor spacing, where he is constantly seeking opportunities to get open, whether coming off screens or relocating along the three-point line. On the offensive end, his game is predicated on his jump shot, which he develops with a smooth and consistent shooting stroke. On the defensive end, he uses his length to contest shots and disrupt passing lanes, demonstrating solid effort on that end without always being a primary factor. projects as a high-major college contributor, likely filling a critical role as an instant-offense shooting guard or wing. Overall, his shooting ability gives him immediate value, giving him a clear pathway to minutes early in his collegiate career.
