The No. 13 overall player in the Class of 2027 is one step closer to a commitment, announced his top eight schools on Wednesday night:
Another day, another top-ranked commitment has announced he is narrowing down his school list as far as recruitment is considered. The latest comes from five-star rising senior small forward Malachi Jordan, out of Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, announcing on Wednesday night that he is down to eight schools chasing him in his recruitment. Jordan will shift his focus to the following schools: Alabama, Kansas, Ohio State, Tennessee, UConn, USC, Vanderbilt, and Washington. Before trimming down his list of schools, Jordan was being recruited by Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Indiana, Miami, Ohio State, Texas Tech, West Virginia, and several others.
Jordan is the No. 13 overall-ranked player, the No. 3 small forward, and the No. 7 overall-ranked player in the state of Florida for the Class of 2027, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-7 rising senior small forward made the move to Prolific Prep over the summer after playing last season at Dream City Christian in Glendale, Arizona.
Out of his eight remaining finalists, Jordan has scheduled official visits with four of them, where he will start by taking an official visit to USC (September 4), followed by Vanderbilt (September 19), Tennessee (September 25), and rounding it out with his visits to Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide (October 9). He has not scheduled any more official visits with the other four remaining schools at this time.
Jordan participated in the Team USA AmeriCup U18 squad, where they won the silver medal, and he averaged 4.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. He also participated in the Men’s Junior National Minicamp in Indianapolis back in April.
Jordan joins a loaded Prolific Prep squad led by 7-foot junior center Bamba Touray, 6-foot-2 junior guard Michai White, 6-foot-5 senior guard Braxton Keathley, and 6-foot-9 freshman forward Wol Deng.
Scouting Report on Malachi Jordan: Jordan, listed at 6-foot-7 with a very long wingspan, possesses exceptional athletic fluidity and explosiveness. This allows him to finish above the rim with ease and guard multiple positions defensively. He has a budding offensive package, capable of scoring from all three levels. However, his mid-range pull-up is particularly clean—his ability to convert difficult finishes through contact, often using his length to extend over the defense. He can ignite a fast break with a defensive rebound and quick outlet, or settle into a half-court set, looking for mismatches. On the defensive end, his length and quickness allow him to be disruptive in the passing lanes, which also allows him to guard multiple positions efficiently from the perimeter to smaller power forwards, turning defense into offense with impressive regularity.
